We are not the biggest name in this field and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can offer is something the big ones rarely do: every figure in your volume comes with the archive it came from, the same surname always returns the same volume, and when you write, the answer comes from the people who build it.

A volume is the documented history of a surname, assembled from the public record — and each one follows a different thread of it. Same name, same findings. Every time.
Look up a surname today, and again next year from another country on another device — spelled the same way — and the findings come back identical: the same origin, the same regions, the same dates, the same arms. Nothing is re-rolled for each visitor. The words we write around those findings are composed fresh for your copy, but the record underneath does not move. That is a deliberate engineering decision, and it is why we can stand behind what a volume says instead of asking you to take it on faith.
What a volume is
- The documented history of a surname — where it is recorded, when, and by whom.
- The arms registered to that name, drawn in full, with every symbol explained.
- Real archive material: census counts, printed pages, migration routes, dated records.
- A source beside every figure, so nothing has to be taken on trust.
What it is not
- A family tree. We do not map your relatives and never ask for them.
- A DNA test. We do not process, store or interpret any genetic data.
- Proof that you personally descend from anyone named in the volume.
- A claim to arms. Heraldic entitlement is a legal matter in some countries and is not ours to grant.

FamilyCrests™ is operated by FamilyCrests Studio LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, USA. We are a small studio and still a growing one — we would rather say that plainly than dress it up, because it is worth knowing before you spend money here.
It is also why we answer in writing rather than over the phone. A question about a surname, a source or an order is better handled by someone who can go and look at the record before replying — and it leaves you holding an answer you can keep, which a phone call never does.
We build and run the engine ourselves instead of reselling someone else’s, so when something needs correcting there is no third party to wait on.
